  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt until smooth.
  4. Add vanilla and eggs; mix well.
  5. Gradually mix in the flour mixture until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Drop heaping tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  9. Allow to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

  • For softer cookies, do not overbake.
  • You can substitute half of the chocolate chips with nuts for added texture.
